Here is our backstory on The Calico Home and why we are in this little space sharing our ideas with you…
Hey there, we are Ross and Jaimie – aka: lovers of a home with charm, character, and personal touches. We’ve been together for 10 years, married for 5, and are the proud parents of two handsome fellas. We couldn’t be more opposite when it comes to how we approach a new challenge- but we work it to our advantage. I (Jaimie) have a background in interior design and love playing with unique, creative ideas when it comes to designing my home. Ross’ background is in engineering and he can take my ideas and put them into action through meticulous planning and building. Although we definitely use different sides of our brains on how we approach a challenge, we are an unstoppable force when working a project together. It’s true people: opposites attract! We have recently moved into our forever home and are putting our ideas to work and want to bring you all along on the ride.
The Calico Home was inspired by our boys- Calvin and Cohen (you see what we did there?) They are our heartbeat and inspire us every day to live life fully. We are jumping out of our comfort zone to teach them that they can too. In this space we will be sharing projects we’ve done throughout our home, design tips, out-of-the-box ideas, and thrifty finds that you can make your own as well.
Our home is meant to be a place of joy for each of us. This is why we continually take on little DIY projects to make our home a reflection of us. Not only are these projects adding charm and character to a newer home- they are bringing us all closer together as a family. And seriously folks, isn’t that what life is all about!?
